Competition Teams
We have 3 different competition teams at Millersville University, Western IHSA, Hunt Seat IHSA, and Eventing.
Western IHSA
A collegiate equestrian competition format focusing on Western riding disciplines like horsemanship and reining. It allows students of all skill levels, from beginners to advanced riders, to compete on college teams, using horses provided by the host school. Competition levels range from Rookie to Open, often including Ranch Riding.
Hunt Seat IHSA
A collegiate equestrian competition format focusing on English riding, specifically hunt seat equitation (jumping and flat work). Classes range from intro to open catering to riders of all levels.
Eventing
A comprehensive equestrian sport combining dressage, cross-country, and show jumping. It acts as an "equestrian triathlon" testing horse and rider versatility, stamina, and training. Pairs accumulate penalties across phases, with the lowest score winning. We compete against other universities along the east coast.
